Policies
DEPOSITS
50% deposit at time of reservation, paid by check or major credit card, is required on all stays, regardless of length. At checkout, you may settle your bill with cash, personal check, recognized travelers checks or a major credit card. We accept American Express, VISA and MasterCard. We do not accept Discover or Diners Club cards.
ADVANCE DEPOSITS -- Applies to reservations for June 1-October 31 and Christmas Prelude (first two weekends of December)
Reservations made more than 60 days in advance receive "Pending Confirmations" and no deposit will be charged. A major credit card (see above) is still required to process the reservation. The reservation will be held, but the card will not be charged until 60 days prior to the arrival date. If the deposit charge is processed successfully at the beginning of the 60-day period, the guest receives a final confirmation. If the deposit charge is not processed successfully or paid according to these terms, the reservation will no longer be held and the room will once again be made available for booking. Guests preferring to use alternate payment methods, such as using a different credit card for the actual deposit payment or making the deposit payment with check or cash must notify us in advance of the 60-day deposit due date and the new credit card information or the cash or check payment must be received before the start of the 60-day period. All standard cancellation policies (see below) apply.
       EXAMPLE
      Reservation requested on March 1 for an August 1 stay
      Guest receives Pending Confirmation within 48 hours of March 1 request; room is reserved, deposit not charged
      June 1 (60 days prior to arrival date), credit card is charged or cash/check is received for 50% deposit as shown on Pending Confirmation
      Guest receives Final Confirmation on or about June 1
CANCELLATIONS
14 or more days prior to arrival day, full refund less a $25 processing fee. Within 14 days of arrival date, the guest will be responsible for the remaining balance (the entire cost of the reserved stay) unless the room is re-booked. We make every effort to re-book cancellations. Reservations cancelled due to inclement weather, illness or other circumstances beyond our control will be rescheduled, not refunded. There are no refunds for early departures.
DISCOUNTS, SPECIALS and PROMOTIONAL PRICING
1802 House special pricing, discounts or promotional offers must be requested at time of reservation. Discounts will not be applied retroactively or at checkout.
THIRD-PARTY DISCOUNTS, PROMOTIONS AND GIFT CARDS (AAA, ILoveInns, etc.)
We are pleased to honor selected discounts, promotional offers or gift cards subject to limitations and seasonal blackout periods. You must notify us that you will be using a gift card or gift certificate when you make your reservation. We cannot accept gift cards or certificates without prior notice. Discounts will not be applied retroactively or at checkout. Discounts, promotions, gift cards and gift certificates, regardless of source, may not be combined with any 1802 House Gift Certificate. The 1802 House accepts no responsibility for the timeliness, validity or applicability of third-party discounts or offers. ILoveInns Free Night certificates are honored only during specific months and on specific rooms. Rooms are subject to availability. Please call for details.
1802 HOUSE GIFT CERTIFICATES
Valid year 'round. May be applied to 1802 House room charges only; all amenities, services, meals other than breakfast, outside charges, restaurant or activity costs, taxes, fees and related costs are the responsibility of the guest. 1802 House Gift Certificates may not be combined with any other 1802 House offer or discount or any third-party offers or discounts. Gift certificates will not be refunded and may not be redeemed for cash. Balances for unused portions of gift certificates will not be refunded or paid out in cash. Unused balances will be carried over and applied to the guest's next stay at the 1802 House.
PLEASE NOTE -- IMPORTANT GIFT CERTIFICATE POLICY CHANGES
Effective July 1, 2011, all 1802 House gift certificates will have a two-year expiration date. They will be valid for two years from date of original purchase as determined by the date on the purchaser's original credit card receipt, not the date on the certificate itself or the date on which you received it. After two years, an 1802 House gift certificate is no longer valid and will not be refunded, accepted for credit, extended, or valid for use at the 1802 House.
TRANSFERRABLE
We encourage you to use your gift certificates promptly. In the event you cannot, our gift certificates are transferrable. You may give a valid certificate to a friend or family member to use at the 1802 House. Simply call us with the new recipient's name and contact information. Transferring a certificate does not extend the expiration date. The certificate will still expire two years from the date of the original purchase as determined by the date on the purchaser's original credit card receipt.
WHAT ABOUT A CERTIFICATE PURCHASED BEFORE JULY 1, 2011?
Don't worry. All certificates purchased before July 1, 2011 are still valid and have no expiration date. Use your certificate anytime you like. But we encourage you to use your certificate promptly. Maine is a beautiful place to visit any time of year. And Kennebunkport is an especially warm and inviting example of a classic coastal Maine village.
1802 HOUSE CREDITS
Should you be issued an 1802 House credit for an unused stay or for any other reason, be aware that it, too , has a two-year expiration date. Your credit will be issued in the form of an 1802 House Gift Certificate and it will expire two years from the date on which it was issued as determined by the date at the bottom of the certificate. All rules of use and restrictions that apply to 1802 House Gift Certificates also apply to credits issued as Gift Certificates. Credits are not redeemable for cash nor will any credit be paid out as reimbursement or credited to a credit card. The only valid use for an 1802 House credit is to use it as partial payment toward room charges at the 1802 House. Credit certificates, just like standard 1802 House Gift Certificates, expire two years from the date on which they were issued. No exceptions.

These policies are in effect until they are superseded by updates or revisions. The 1802 House is under no further obligation to publish or distribute these policies to any party at any time. By making a reservation at the 1802 House you agree that you have read and understand these policies and accept them. There are no exceptions to these policies and none will be made or negotiated regardless of circumstances.

1802 House breakfasts are memorable!
Your three courses include: Inn-baked delights, the freshest seasonal fruits, imaginative and original entrees, our own sherbets and sweets to close. Our fair trade, organic coffees will please even the most discerning coffee drinkers. We buy whole beans from a family-owned boutique roasting company in South Carolina. They're roasted immediately before shipping to us, we grind them minutes before brewing.

For early risers, coffee and tea are available an hour before breakfast daily. If you can't join us for breakfast just let us know and we'll prepare our gourmet GoBag breakfast that travels with you. We'll gladly accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions, just let us know when you reserve your room.
