The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the garden is coming into bloom as Kennebunkport and the 1802 House are getting ready for a busy summer.
The official kick off to the Summer season here in Kennebunkport starts June 3rd and runs through June 9th. It’s a weeklong festival of food, art, wine, and live music- everything you could ever need. Not only is this is perfect week to stroll around our beautiful town but you can feel good about your contribution as 100% of ticket sales are donated to local charities with a goal of raising $100,000 to split among wonderful organizations such as Community Outreach Services of the Kennebunks, Maine Art Scholarship for the Arts of Kennebunk High School and local animal charities, woof!
There are different events taking center stage each day of the week. Starting the week off with a scrumptious treat on Monday, June 3rd is “Art of Dining Dinners” where top Maine chefs are invited into Kennebunkport homes where guests are wined and dined surrounded by art from local artists- sounds like a delicious date night to us!
It’s cocktails galore for the next few nights everyday from 5-7pm, get your favorite summer drink at one of the featured locations throughout Kennebunkport! Tuesday the 4th features Cocktails at the Burleigh, Wednesday the 5th brings you Cocktails at the Stripers, and Thursday the 6th is cocktails aboard the Spirit of Massachusetts! You get a cocktail, and you get a cocktail, everybody gets a cocktail! (Oprah will be there in spirit.)
Once you’re done sipping your mojito on the Spirit of Massachusetts, wander down to Old Vines who will be hosting an Oasis Party from 6:30-11pm. There will be live music, dancing, food, wine, and you guessed it- more cocktails! Special appearances by the Portland based band Hello Newman and DJ Nate!
Friday the 7th brings even more fun as we head into the weekend! New Orleans is coming to Kennebunkport with an evening block party at Maine’s Art Hill. There will be four locations to visit with seven micro galleries to browse local art and enjoy NOLA style food and live jazz music.
Friday also brings the 4th annual Foundation4Love Gala! Located at the Nonantum Resort, you can enjoy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and live music featuring the Jim Ciampi Band before listening to Keynote speaker Megan Jusczyk, co-founder of the For Kid’s Sake Foundation share her powerful and inspirational story about the creation of her non-profit and how you can help support both of these wonderful causes and lend a hand to someone who may need some extra help.
Put your dancing shoes back on for Saturday night as Vinegar Hill presents the “Summer Soiree at Vinegar Hill” from 6-10pm. Refreshments will be provided by Earth, The Burleigh, Ocean, The Dory, Batson River and The Boathouse- but don’t fill up too much on those delicious treats as the rest of the night will be spent dancing off those calories!
Last but certainly not least, Sunday the 9th brings up “Taste the Kennebunks” from noon-4pm. The grand finale of the Kennebunkport Festival takes you to the Colony Hotel where 20 restaurant chefs, artisan ice cream makers, and wonderful local bakers offer samples for the public. And of course we didn’t forget the drinks! Local distillers, wineries, and craft brewers will be on site to make sure you have a ball as you eat and drink the afternoon away at this beautiful resort overlooking the ocean.
This summer kick-off party is not to be missed! In its 15th year this wonderful fundraiser is supporting some amazing causes and giving everyone the chance to get out and have some real fun!
