1802 House COVID-19 Update

Update as of May 21st, 2020

No new updates have come through from the state since our update from May 11th, and the guidelines issued by Governor Mills and the CDC. We are ready to welcome Maine residents when they feel it is safe to travel and we look forward to seeing out of state travelers as soon as we are able. We have added a new (temporary) disclaimer to our policy, please be sure to check it out before confirming your reservation. We are always available for any questions you may have.

We are confirming our promise to you regarding our standards on hygiene and safety. We continue to follow the  AHLA Enhanced Industry Wide Hotel Cleaning Standards in response to the crisis: https://www.ahla.com/safestay and we now have guidelines from the state:

We have also joined with our local business community and joined the Kennebunkport Promise. The majority of businesses in town have pledged to keep our town a safe place to stay and play. For more information visit http://kptpromise.com

Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have, we miss you and are looking forward to seeing you again soon – we’ll put the kettle on for you.

Update as of May 11th, 2020

Following new guidelines from Governor Mills and the CDC, we are to remain closed until May 31st. We can then have a slow reopening starting with Maine residents only. We hope to be able to expand this to other guests from July but at this time we are still waiting for further updates on testing and how the slow reopening of our state affects its ability to manage the crisis.

Those of you who know us and have stayed with us before know that the comfort and safety of our guests is our number one priority. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our inn but are aware that some additional new measures need to be adopted to meet the challenges of the times. We will be issued guidelines by the state in due course and will make those available to you. Meanwhile we are adhering to the AHLA Enhanced Industry Wide Hotel Cleaning Standards in response to the crisis https://www.ahla.com/safestay

Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have. We will tailor, where possible, the individual needs of our guests with regards to check in, breakfast, etc. For a time the bed and breakfast experience may look and feel a little different, but we are here for you and will continue to make your stay with us as pleasant and enjoyable an experience as we always have.

We will see you as soon as possible. And we’ll put the kettle on for you.

Update as of April 28th, 2020

Following advice from the state we will remain closed until May 31st. At that time we will hopefully have updated guidelines from our governor that will allow us to welcome you all back to our beautiful inn and our wonderful town. If you are looking for reservations in June and beyond, please reach out to us directly, we would love to hear from you.  In the meantime, please, bear with us.  This pandemic has had a huge effect on our industry and we can imagine it has called into question your decision to travel now and into the future. We’d like to reassure our guests that we are still here and very much looking forward to welcoming you back.

Usually we ask “how can we help you?” Now we have to ask if you can help us.

Reconsider cancellations. Allowing us to hold onto your deposit for a later date in 2020 will help us reopen and bring our inn back as quickly as possible. All reservations that are scheduled for arrival before April 30, 2020—even those described as non-cancellable, can be cancelled or, better yet, changed to a future date. If you have reservations for May and beyond, we ask that you please consider holding off on making any cancellations.

We would again like to use this time to thank everyone who has supported us during this difficult time. We are offering rooms for key workers who need to be isolated from family. Please call us directly for information.

We are also still selling our gift certificates, so if you would like to support small businesses, every little helps! Please consider purchasing a gift certificate to any business you can, large or small, they can always be redeemed later.

Stay safe, stay inside, we’ll see you soon- and we’ll put the kettle on for you!

Update as of March 24th, 2020

We’ve made the very difficult decision to close our doors until April 8th. This is the socially responsible thing to do at this time. We’d like to reassure our guests that we are still accepting reservations for the current season.

We’d also like to use this time to thank everyone who has supported us during this difficult time. We are offering a key workers discount for anyone who has been working to help the public during this truly unprecedented time.

We are also still selling our gift certificates, so if you would like to support local businesses, every little helps! Please consider purchasing a gift certificate to any business you can, large or small, they can always be redeemed later.

Stay safe, stay inside, we’ll see you soon- and we’ll put the kettle on for you!

Update as of March 17th, 2020

We’re going through a bit of a worrying time right now. With COVID-19 at the forefront of everyone’s mind, we wanted to reassure our guests that the 1802 House remains open and is as clean and safe as ever. We have always taken great pride in the safety and cleanliness of every space, both communal and private within our gorgeous inn.

Anyone who has stayed with us knows that Eileen and the staff of the 1802 House are highly trained and their number one priority is the comfort and safety of our guests. Eileen was an Operating Department Practitioner for the NHS for 18 years, meaning she knows how to clean things really, really well- and that is already everyday practice for us.

Our breakfast has always been served table side and we will continue to serve breakfast at individual tables in our dining room. We will however offer a modified to go breakfast per state guidelines.

We are staying up to date with all news regarding COVID-19 and rest assured that we will be implementing increased cleaning and hygiene protocols in line with local public health authorities and CDC recommendations. If any additional measures need to be taken, we will address those as and when they arise but for now, guests can rest assured that we offer only the best of the best for each guest.

For any guests who have any concerns or queries, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us- we’re always here to talk and answer any questions you may have.
